The Community How To service is brought to you by OCF (the organisation behind UK online centres), and Nominet Trust. At its core is the idea to help community groups do more, more easily, with digital tools. It’s a subject on which Nominet Trust Chief Executive Annika Small remains passionate, and she talks to us exclusively in this new video.
“We’ve seen some great examples of communities using technology to fantastic effect over the last few years,” says Annika. “It can help organisations get more out their resources - whether that’s funding, or just people’s time.”
With resources scarcer than ever for all third sector organisations, anything that maximises impact and minimises effort has got to move up the priority list. But Annika also sees very clearly the barriers stopping many of those organisations adopting new digital tools.
She adds: “Community organisers just don’t have a lot of spare time on their hands to find out which of the tools are out there are best for them or to spend getting to know how a tool works that turns out to be not what they need. That’s why Community How To is so exciting. It’s a dynamic platform that allows those in the community sector to learn from each other - and find the tools that are right for them.”
